Founder

Rachel Kersenbrock has spent nearly two decades immersed in theatre, acting, directing, stage managing, teaching, and producing across schools, universities, corporations, military bases, city run arts programs, and immersive venues across the Southeast. She’s built drama programs from scratch, developed inclusive theatre and improvisational workshops for individuals with disabilities, and produced everything from drunk Shakespeare to custom escape‑room mysteries and large‑scale immersive events. She's performed in over a dozen community theatre productions across the Carolinas and 100's of murder mystery shows across the Southeast.

Eight years ago, she discovered the power of immersive murder mystery theatre, a rare space where adults feel safe to play, be silly, take risks, and connect without pressure. After years in corporate America, she saw how deeply people needed that blend of fun and growth.

Lanternlight Theatre Co was created to offer exactly that: a place where people can loosen up, break out of their roles, and rediscover the kind of play that builds confidence, connection, and community.

Director of interactive training

Candace Boroos has more than 30 years of theater experience and over two decades of improvisational and training experience. She enjoys creating immersive, story-driven experiences that foster communication, collaboration, and authentic engagement. As an educator and facilitator, she believes play and imagination create environments where people feel safe, creative, and fully present.

Candace holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts from the University of Minnesota and has trained with Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis, The Magnet Theater in New York City, and Carolina Improv in Myrtle Beach. She has written and performed ensemble and solo productions for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Minnesota Fringe Festival, and has written, produced, and directed short films for conferences in both Europe and New York City.

In 2023, Candace founded Spartanburg Readers Theater, where she developed and workshopped her original play Blamed. She remains active with Spartanburg Little Theatre, appearing in five productions including You Can’t Take It With You opposite Rachel Kersenbrock.
